Pallikaranai Marshland

No items found.

Pallikaranai Marshland, located in the southern part of Chennai, is one of the city’s last remaining natural wetlands. Spanning a large area, it plays a key role in controlling floods by absorbing rainwater during the monsoon. The marsh is home to a rich variety of birds, including flamingos, pelicans, herons, and many migratory species, making it a favorite spot for birdwatchers. Though urban development has affected parts of the marsh, ongoing conservation efforts aim to protect this important habitat and its biodiversity.
