Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) operates one of the country’s largest automobile manufacturing facilities near Chennai, in Irungattukottai and Sriperumbudur, close to the Oragadam industrial belt. Set up in the late 1990s, the plant has grown into a massive integrated complex spread over 500+ acres, with the capacity to produce over 800,000 vehicles annually. It manufactures a wide range of models like the i10, i20, Creta, Alcazar, and even the electric Ioniq 5, catering to both Indian and international markets. The facility is equipped with advanced automation, green manufacturing practices, and dedicated engine and transmission lines.
