Witzenmann’s Palur - Oragadam Move Looks Beyond the Present

Acompany relocates and expands only when it sees room for the future.

In February 2026, Witzenmann India broke ground on a new production and administrative facility at Palur–Oragadam. The company plans to gradually transfer operations from its existing Chennai facility, which has been active for more than 25 years, to the new complex by 2028.

The first phase is planned across approximately 20,000 square metres of built-up space on a 90,000-square-metre site, with further expansion potential. Witzenmann says the project will create “modern, scalable infrastructure” forfuture growth.

That phrase captures the larger Oragadam opportunity. The corridor is increasingly being chosen not only for current manufacturing demand, but for scalability: larger land parcels, industrial ecosystems, logistics access and proximity to skilled talent. The new plant will support passenger-vehicle and commercial-vehicle components as well as industrial products, while positioning the company for opportunities in electric mobility and advanced manufacturing.

This is how industrial regions compound their advantage. One major investment strengthens the supplier ecosystem; that ecosystem attracts additional investment; jobs deepen; and residential and social infrastructure follow.

The Palur–Oragadam development also demonstrates that the region’s growth is spreading beyond established factory boundaries into newer, professionally planned industrial parks.

Oragadam’s future will not be defined by a single mega-project. It will be built through aseries of serious, long-horizon corporate decisions such as this one.
